Other Than That (I'm Doin' Fine); I Knew; Which Cloud (Have You Just Stepped Down Off); What Do I Do (With All This Love); Jukebox Blues; Sure, Let's Be Friends; Sometimes; Bruised But Not Broken; You Won't; Old Fiddles; You Got It Comin' To You; Ex's And Whys; Like I Care; Bonus track; I Knew.
There's a very commercial sound to this 51-minute collaboration between Jon Philibert and Sue Bennett and other British songwriters and recorded in Hendersonville, just outside Nashville, featuring six American singers. These include Tim Raybon, brother of Shenandoah's lead singer, Marty Raybon, on tracks 1, 10 and 12 plus two wonderful lady vocalists, including Kelly Nolf on track 13, both of whom are much-in-demand session singers in Music City. Sue Bennett is becoming known as one of the best UK songwriting talents with several recorded by Sue James. Lorna Flowers joins Sue on two co-writes.
Jon Philibert will be known to readers of Country Music People as a regular contributor but his main claim to fame is for writing some excellent Country songs. He's had Bobby Bare cut one of his works and Tom Jones had a Top 10 hit in 1984 and recently re-recorded by Charlie Landsborough while Mick Flavin had a hit in Ireland recently with one of Jon's numbers.
With a variety of rhythms track three had a real Shania feel to it while My Pick of the Album was track 12 with a ballad and a clever title. Very enjoyable listening showing that it's not just the Americans who can write good Country tunes! Available from Bud's Country Music store in Penge, Kent, or check out www.countrycuts.co.uk.
